Tap 1
Tuesday 4:30 - 5:30
An introduction to the dance genre that requires no previous experience. Classes will begin with a set warm up focused on technique, clarity of sound, and musicality. Throughout the year, students will gain knowledge in traditional tap vocabulary through learning and practicing a variety of tap steps, short phrases, tap turns, and choreography using different rhythms supported by a wide range of music.
Tap 2
Tuesday 5:30 - 6:30
Tap II will require some prior experience of shuffles, spanks, cramp rolls, flaps, time steps, buffalos, scuffs, etc. While developing a strong sense of rhythm, students will work toward the control of weight distribution in the foot along with a pleasing style in the arms, head and torso.
Classes will begin with a set warm up followed by across the floor techniques/phrases and a choreography piece. This level will increase a student's tap vocabulary while advancing footwork and speed. Students will also continue working on developing clarity of sound and precise movements.
